Zilker Metropolitan Park
10-Mile Relay Race
Marathon Kids Dash
The Zilker Relays is a 10-mile race with teams comprised of 4 runners. Each participant runs a 2.5 mile loop from one central festival/transition area. The team concept of the Zilker Relays is not unique, but the combination of a relay, festival home base, drinks and music, make this experience a favorite for runners of all calibers and ages.
You don’t have to train like a marathoner for this one. All you have to do is be willing to run/jog/walk/stroll 2.5 miles, enjoy live music and great food and get 3 of your siblings/kids/buddies/colleagues to come join you for this one of a kind running experience.
Who should participate?
Anyone who wants to combine a fun run around Zilker park with great friends, Tacodeli and live music! All faces and paces are welcome.
Do I need to find all 3 of my teammates?
Yes. Team captains are responsible for filling their teams. All teams are required to have 4 runners to participate. Runners may run for more than one team, but must pay an additional entry fee to do so.
Can children participate in the Zilker Relays?
Definitely, if they can make it 2.5 miles on their own. If they're not quite ready for a full relay, we have a Kid's Dash for children 17 and younger. Note that this run is an out and back so participants can run any distance they’d like.
What is included in my registration?
We provide chip timing using a relay baton, an awesome Zilker Relays t-shirt, Tacodeli dinner, and drinks at the finish line for all race participants.
Can family and friends hang out and support me?
Heck yes! We encourage it! We are bringing back the post-race beer garden thanks to our friends at Real Ale. The beer is free to all and is NOT a condition of your entry. If friends/family would like to eat, they can purchase a meal ticket prior to the event. No onsite sales available for meal tickets.
Are the Zilker Relays associated with a charity?
We are partnering with Marathon Kids. We believe in getting kids excited about running and building great communities.
Do I need to buy a meal ticket if I'm on a team?
No. Your race entry gets you full access to the race, the dinner, the band and all other race amenities. Beer is not part of the race amenities, and is available for anyone of legal drinking age possessing a valid ID.

Are the Zilker Relays a timed event?
Yes. All runners are chip timed.

How it works:
All proceeds from the event will benefit Marathon Kids, a national, Austin-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering the next generation of runners.
All proceeds from the Zilker Relays benefit the Marathon Kids Program.
Founded in 1995, Marathon Kids is the only evidence-based structured physical activity program specifically designed for children in the United States. Using technology and research-proven methods, Marathon Kids aims to get kids moving!
With the help of coaches and mentors, kids in Austin ISD and nationwide set big goals and are challenged to run, jog, walk, or move the equivalent of four (or more!) marathons over the course of a season or school year.
Marathon Kids provides training, tools, and resources to the dedicated coaches, PE teachers, and other community volunteers who motivate kids to take their first step towards a healthier future and positively impact mental health. Since its inception, Marathon Kids has supported over 2.5 million young runners, currently over 200,000 annually.
